SOUTHFIELD, MI– Life for Relief and Development continues to make a positive impact on the lives of people all across Iraq through our decades-long work and various humanitarian programs in the country. Recent Life projects include the distribution of food baskets to over 3000 needy families throughout Iraq including in Diyala, Sulaimaniya, and Salah Eldin, as well as other cities.
Our brave staff continue to work tirelessly to help needy Iraqis overcome the devastating effects of the country's collapsed infrastructure, legacies of war and volatile political situation. This includes the current dire situation in Fallujah where innocent people struggle to survive under the threat of terrorist forces and near-constant violence.
Life for Relief and Development was in part established in 1992 to address the humanitarian crises in Iraq resultant of the first Gulf War. Our initial projects of providing emergency relief of food, clothing and shelter quickly expanded into long-term programs within all areas of Iraq and to other countries and communities in need around the world.
Some of our most important and impactful programs in Iraq include our orphan sponsorship program, food basket and basic humanitarian relief programs, medical supply program and our network of healthcare clinics. Our orphan sponsorship program is well-known and documented with the Iraqi government and through the generosity of our donors, we have been able to give thousands of helpless children the chance to grow, learn and thrive despite their challenging life circumstances.
Life has also worked with international partners to help Iraqi communities establish clinics, schools, sanitation and clean water programs. We have supplied wheelchairs for the disabled, distributed food baskets and Udhiyah meat during Ramadan and Eid and continue to provide food and basic humanitarian relief to countless refugees, orphans, widows and those in need.
With the support of donors like you, Life has distributed more than tens of millions of dollars in humanitarian assistance to a country of over 30 million people.
